Alexa Davis is an Italian-American multidisciplinary artist, curator, and art advisor based in Austin, Texas. Her work explores human emotion through figurative drawing, painting, and photography, often delving into themes of love, lust, addiction, and the desire to lose control. With a background in anthropology, Alexa’s art is deeply influenced by her study of human interactions and the complexities of the human form.
Alexa’s journey into the arts began in Denver, Colorado, where she worked at Cherry Creek Art Gallery, collaborating with some of the city’s most prominent artists. Her responsibilities included creating artist statements, conducting in-studio photoshoots, and developing websites for both the gallery and individual artists. During this time, she launched So Fine, an educational contemporary art newsletter, which eventually evolved into the So Fine Art Advisory. Through her advisory, Alexa helps clients curate meaningful collections for their homes, selecting artwork that tells a story and enhances the space.
Her training continued under the mentorship of Ray Tomasso, who taught her papermaking, journal creation, and the importance of shadow work in sculpture and painting. Following Ray’s passing and a move to Austin, Alexa further developed her skills under figurative artist Dan Thompson at the Art Students League of New York. His guidance deepened her understanding of the human figure and significantly influenced her artistic evolution.
Her most recent project, Kismet, is an immersive art, storytelling, and culinary experience inspired by Sleep No More, where Alexa curates the artistic vision. In addition to her art practice, she is the founder of the Sober Supper Club, a growing community in Austin that explores the city’s food scene while celebrating sobriety.
Whether through her personal artwork, art advisory services, or curatorial projects, Alexa’s work is driven by a passion for human connection, storytelling, and the transformative power of art.
